Achievements

During my time at Nottingham Trent University, I have participated in several live competition briefs and achieved success in many of them. These experiences have helped me refine my skills and gain valuable knowledge about the textile industry.

At the end of 2024 I had the opportunity to participate in a QAA & Liberty Fabrics collaborative Enhancement Project. The project explored how AI could be used in design and after presenting my final outcomes to the Liberty Design team in December 2024 I was thrilled to be awarded third place for my outstanding work throughout the project.

Prior to this project I had very little understanding of AI, however I recognise that AI is an inevitable part of future design and saw this project as a perfect opportunity to embrace AI and develop my understanding of it.

The project bought together students from Nottingham School of Art, Chelsea College of Art and Norwich University of the Arts to explore how AI could be used within the design industry. During this project I had the opportunity to develop an understanding and build my confidence of using AI software including Adobe Firefly, Midjourney and Generative AI on Photoshop.

My Project Mission Statement:

As a designer I recognise that the textile industry is one of the most damaging industries on the planet and as a young, passionate creative I understand that it is my role to take action and put the planet first. I want to create designs which make people feel good and bring them feelings of joy, dopamine and positivity. Craft has always been at the heart of my design process as it tells a story. This allows people to form long-lasting connections with beautifully crafted items and encourages them to treasure and hold onto these items for many years. AI is an inevitable part of future design so I want to embrace it. My mission is to explore the relationship between AI and handcrafted designs to see if they can be used together to help us move towards a more sustainable future of design.
